Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What do I expect the students to do in P.E.?
A. If you want to be successful in P.E. at Valley Road School you should have fun, enjoy the activities, try your best, help others, show excellent sportsmanship, and leave with a smile.
Q: What do I need to do if my child is ill or has an injury and should not particiapate in P.E.?
A. If your child has any illness, injury, health concern or restriction that we need to be aware of, please send a detailed note with instructions for their class participation limitations and bring to the nurse before coming to P.E. Mrs. Simpson will then send a excuse note to me.
Q.Does my child need sneakers to participate in P.E.?
A. Every child is expected to participate to the best of their ability each day they attend class. We are concerned about your child's safety and for that reason; we ask that they wear athletic or running type shoes. Shoes with heals, boots or sandals (such as crocs) make it difficult for children to participate safely, so we do not allow those. We strongly encourage students to wear socks with their shoes.
Q: Can my 6th through 8th grade child take P.E. if they forgot their gym clothes but has sneakers?
A: Yes. Students will still receive 1/2 credit for their daily grade but will be allowed to participate.
Q: If my son/daughter misses the mile run, do they have to re-take it?
A: Yes. It's just like missing a science test. If not retaken before the end of the marking period, it will be a "0" in the book.
